This was a minefield as i had not chosen a system. In choosing a system your are immeaditly limited. So to make the system as universal it meant alot of wiring. So what did it need and why.>>
TV......... (Satellitle,Satellite (PVR) ,terrestial, CAT 6, Cat 5e times 4, ir pass through, audio.
Security camera........ (RG59 cable for each camera and low voltage power.
Alarm system. .......Windows, PIR's, Key pads,Sounders, contact sensors.
Audio....... 23strange 14 gauge minimum for any sound for kitchen, hall, outside, surround sound for tv room
Telephone... This i plan to use a voip pabx designed for business. This is a new proposition for me but should allow network calls and cheaper internat calls. I havent worked this one out.
Attached are some of the wiring that i have planeed for around the home...
TIP.
I have the very cheap face plates from a company in the u.k.These face plates are modular in the form that the face plate can be built as required. So with that pre wiring is essential and as the need changes, the face plate can be rewired as needed.
Here are some of the wiring face plates and modular inserts
The next item was design and god help the novice.
You can get the basic wiring for all the above but the user needs to have to make the decision of what interface he is going to use. For example
Is the user going to use a professional distribution system at a cost of several thousand. You will find these manufacturers on line and their products are impressive.
Go for a low cost unit and stick ot this wiring protocol that may not suit your needs or even worse may not have the complete support for your local tv and others.
I did neither as i could not afford an ecpensive all inclusive system so i had ot make the design very flexible. What I did was allow for a central hub where all data and communication had the ability to route through. This allowed for central control and central storage of music and films to be distributed. So with that I routed all sky, terrestial, telephone, brodband, alarm and security cameras and network cat 5e and cat 6 to one hub.
From there one would generally deploy a system of distribution around the home. This i floundered on as i knew i would not have the funds. So rather than having a central hub. All lines were then redirected as needed to each zone or room as needed. I.E.
The home theatre room got not only cat 5e and cat 6 it also got its sky plus and terrestial and ir links and speakers. So i could deploy sky locally and in time when i got a windows server and media system going i would centrally store all films and movies and music.
Basically the choice i am having now is front ending the equipment at the tv or backend at the centrally located room for future distribution
